The Commodore 64 computer is definitely a machine that would have brought back fond memories to those who spent plenty of time in their early years with computers. Well, for those of you out there who cannot but help to wish for a laptop version of the Commodore 64, all of that wishful thinking can now be put to bed. Basically, what you see above is the C64p laptop, but do bear in mind that this is not an official piece of hardware, but rather, it is a lovingly assembled DIY project by a particular hardware hacker.
The C64p laptop is actually made up of a netbook that has been taken apart, where it subsequently saw the various components replaced, including the display itself, the processor, and just about any other internal component, transforming it into a portable Commodore 64 in the process that sports a 7” display, a touchpad which also doubles up as a joystick, and an infrared remote control. It is certainly a labor of love, that is for sure, where the developer has currently set a limited number of available units on sale on eBay due to the lengthy refurbishment process. The C64p is able to run a number of games in addition to C64 BASIC, JiffyDOS, and GEOS, although do bear in mind that not all classic Commodore 64 games or apps will function.
