Earlier this week we reported that BlackBerry had issued the latest BBM Beta to its beta testers, and part of that BBM Beta update included an iOS 8 friendly theme. As iOS users are well aware of, BBM’s design for the iOS platform doesn’t exactly look like it blends in. In fact to a certain extent it looks like someone just ported its design from BB10 over onto iOS.
Well the good news is that if you were hoping to get the update for yourself, you’re in luck as BlackBerry has officially announced the update’s availability. According to BlackBerry who spoke about the update on their blog, “You can’t help but notice the sleek and modern design updates like a flat UI and attractive transparencies. These adjustments make BBM look sharp across supported Apple devices.”
The update also includes support for the larger displays of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, so if you’re a BBM user on either device, hopefully the app will look more sharp now. In addition to iOS updates, BBM’s update also applies to Android as BlackBerry has added support for Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The update supports landscape mode, “D” and “R” picture messages, sharing of multiple pictures and attachments, and more. According to BlackBerry, it could take up to 24 hours for the update to be reflected in your respective app store, so if you don’t see it yet, don’t worry as it should be arriving soon.
