It is undeniable that the name Atari still has a fair amount of pulling power, having been one of the world’s most recognized publishers and producers of interactive entertainment. Well, their latest effort does not have much to do with gaming, but rather, it will target your health. Known as Atari Fit, this happens to be a gamified fitness app that intends to grace mobile devices some time early next year.
In order to come up with fitness routines that actually work, Atari has collaborated with certified personal trainer and performance enhancement specialist Michael Porter via the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), resulting in you being able to carry over 150 exercises right smack on your smartphone or tablet in the form of Atari Fit.
These exercises will include the likes of full-body circuit workouts, running programs and custom routines, where Atari Fit dangles the carrot of points that can be earned to unlock classic Atari titles such as Pong, Centipede and Super Breakout as you exercise as an individual or in collaboration with friends.
Apart from that, Atari has some form of integration with the Walgreens Balance Rewards application program interface, so that users are able to earn Balance Rewards loyalty program points when they participate in challenges that will log the number of steps taken in a day, and accumulated points can be redeemed at Walgreens and Walgreens.com. Do you think that this is incentive enough for you to get started?
