It has been a while since the YouTube experience on Apple TV was significantly updated, those who have been waiting for an update can rejoice today because the Apple TV YouTube app has finally been revamped. Apple’s set-top box gets access to the entire video catalog from the world’s largest online video streaming website through the application.
The feature set of this app has also been improved. Users who are signed in can now get better search with predictive results, better recommendations, ability to subscribe to channels apart from a completely new user interface that offers an improved discovery and navigation experience.
Folks who use the YouTube app on Apple TV will appreciate the fact that now the entire video catalog is available, so the user experience will be similar to that of other platforms, making the app truly useful for a change.
Over the past few months Apple TV has received multiple content updates, and refreshing native apps like YouTube will breathe new life into the set-top box, which hasn’t received any major updates for quite some time now. It was rumored at one point that a new Apple TV might be released this year, but that didn’t happen.
While all of the new features in this app will certainly be appreciated, there’s one change that might not be so warmly welcomed, ads will be served on YouTube videos now played through the Apple TV.
