xperia z ultraIf you’re the owner of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, you might have heard that there is an unofficial Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the device. The update was basically intended for the smaller sized Xperia Z1, but developers managed to port it onto the Xperia Z Ultra, although the end result was a rather buggy experience.

That being said, the good news for Xperia Z Ultra owners is that it looks like the official update has been released and is making its way out to the Google Play Edition version of the handset. This means that if you did not get the GPE version of the Xperia Z Ultra, it looks like you’ll still have to wait for the update which we can only assume will be pushed out in the near future.

The update weighs close to 400MB so you’ll probably want to make sure your phone is connected to WiFi before you proceed with the update, otherwise you could very easily eat into your data plan in a blink of an eye. So far there does not seem to be any issue with the update, so it looks like things are rolling out rather smoothly.

It also appears that the update is being rolled out in stages, as expected, so if you have yet to receive your notification regarding the update, rest easy as we’re sure it will make its way to you eventually. Alternatively you can try and see if you can pull it manually by checking your phone for software updates in the Settings menu.
