Not too long ago several photos made their way online which according to the rumors are that of the Lumia 1030, the alleged successor to the Lumia 1020. Additional rumors that followed hinted that the device could sport a whopping 50MP camera which safe to say is an exciting feature that we’re sure many are looking forward to.
Well unfortunately if you were hoping for such a device you could be disappointed. According to a tweet by The Verge’s Tom Warren, he revealed that the device pictured in the leaked photos is not the Lumia 1030, but rather the Nokia McLaren device. Given Warren’s history and reputation for leaks and reliable insider information, there is a good chance he could be right.
For those unfamiliar with the Nokia McLaren, this is a device that Nokia was reportedly working on that was later revealed to have been cancelled by Microsoft. The camera on the device is also not of the 50MP variety and is more like 20MP instead. To be fair when the rumors first hit the net, there was speculation that it could have been the Nokia McLaren, but we guess we now have additional confirmation that it is.
However what does this mean? Do we have any high-end Windows Phone handsets to look forward to? While we’re sure Microsoft has maybe one or two planned, we have yet to hear anything and the rumored Lumia 1030 was what many were looking forward to. Perhaps the Windows Phone version of the HTC “Hima” could be worth looking forward to for now then.
