The smartwatch trend is on the rise these days and it seems like every other company that dabbles in smartphones and tablets is coming out with its own wearable device. Which has why many have asked whether or not Xiaomi has any plans of doing so. In the short while that it has been around Xiaomi has quickly cemented its position as one of the biggest smartphone vendors and China, and its slowly expanding its reach in surrounding countries. Is it going to launch a smartwatch? Well the company is “definitely” considering it.
This was revealed by Hugo Barra, an ex-Googler, who now happens to be the global vice president at Xiaomi. In a video message on YouTube Barra claimed that we would all be “absolutely amazed” if we saw all the things Xiaomi is working on.
He did touch on the subject of smartwatches and said that the company is going to make a final decision about jumping on this bandwagon over the next few months. They’re also looking at feedback from their fans, Xiaomi invites them to contribute what features they would like to see in the company’s wearable device, the feedback can be provided through YouTube.
This certainly won’t be the company’s first wearable device. The MiBand is a simple fitness tracker but it did mark Xiaomi’s entrance into the wearable device market. It will be interesting to see what its take on a smartwatch is going to be.
