For those who have flashed custom Android ROMs on their phones, you might be familiar with Paranoid Android which is one of the more popular ROMs out there, alongside the likes of CyanogenMod. Now while CyanogenMod might have found a home in devices like the OnePlus One and the Oppo N1, Paranoid Android will be the Vsenn’s Android ROM of choice.
For those unfamiliar, Vsenn is an upcoming smartphone that will be similar in concept to Project Ara which is by offering modular components. However Vsenn’s modularity will only allow users to swap out three components, such as its RAM/CPU combo, battery, and camera, which we guess covers most of the basics anyway.
That being said, the company has recently tweeted that Paranoid Android will be their certified Android ROM partner and that users can go ahead and flash Paranoid Android’s ROMs without worrying that their warranty might be voided in the process. This is different from other OEMs where warranty is usually voided when users try to flash alternative ROMs or make unauthorized modifications to their devices.
Now based on this tweet, we can only imagine that Vsenn could be adding other ROMs to their certified list, although for now only Paranoid Android has been mentioned. According to Vsenn, “The roms developed under the ARP program will keep all the advanced proprietary functions, like noise reduction algorithms, of the original Vsenn software.” No word on when Vsenn will launch their smartphone, but safe to say we are eagerly looking forward to it.
