We reported earlier today that the Ellipsis 8 tablet had been spotted on Verizon’s website. Now the carrier has officially confirmed that it has released a successor for the Ellipsis 8 tablet which came out last year. Given that it has nearly been an year it is not surprising to see Verizon come out with a successor. This is the latest addition to Verizon’s lineup of affordable tablets capable of running on its 4G LTE network.
The carrier didn’t reveal much last year about the specifications of Ellipsis 7. As the name suggested it had a 7-inch HD display, front and rear facing cameras, 4G LTE compatibility on Verizon and a near stock version of Android Jelly Bean.
It has revealed specifications of Ellipsis 8 to a certain extent. The new tablet has an 8-inch display with 1,280×800 pixel resolution and 189ppi. Apart from a 5 megapixel rear camera it has a non-removable 5,000mAh battery which promises to provide 288 hours of standby time and 14.51 hours of usage time. The tablet is 8.1-inches in height and 4.6-inches in width, and it weights in at 12.07 oz.
The previous price points have been maintained. At full price the Ellipsis 8 costs $249.99. Alternatively customers can get it on a two year contract for $149.99 upfront. It is also available on Verizon Edge program for monthly installments of $10.41.
