Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Unity had a lot of hype and anticipation leading up to its launch. This was going to be the latest version of Assassin’s Creed Unity and from what we could tell based on the screenshots and trailers, it looked good. It even had an intriguing story as it was set during the French Revolution.
Unfortunately as you might have heard, the game was launched with plenty of issues plaguing it, and it seems that Ubisoft has decided to point their fingers at AMD as to the reason why the game was so buggy. In a statement released by Ubisoft, it reads, “We are aware that the graphics performance of Assassin’s Creed Unity on PC may be adversely affected by certain AMD CPU and GPU configurations.”
Ubisoft also added that, “This should not affect the vast majority of PC players, but rest assured that AMD and Ubisoft are continuing to work together closely to resolve the issue, and will provide more information as soon as it is available.” It’s interesting that they note that these issues only affect the PC version, especially considering that both the Xbox One and PS4 rely on AMD’s technology and there have been reports about issues plaguing the console version as well.
There have also been reviews which suggests that computers running high-end specs with NVIDIA GPUs have been similarly affected as well. It’s odd that Ubisoft did not catch these glitches during the development and testing phase, but then again with so many different PC configurations out there, we would have to guess it would be impossible to catch it all.
Ubisoft has since announced that they are hard at work at trying to resolve these issues and that the patches to address these glitches should be rolling out soon.
