Over the past year there have been many rumors about who will portray Steve Jobs in the Sony Pictures film, penned by Aaron Sorkin, based on the official biography of the Apple co-founder written by Walter Isaacson. A new report suggests that Sony might be giving up on this project altogether. The report comes after claims that Christian Bale backed out of playing Jobs.

There have been countless rumors about who will play the main character in this film, which will essentially be three half hour scenes that show some of the most important product launches that Jobs ever conducted. Christian Bale was rumored to be locked in but apparently he backed out.

It is now being reported that Sony Pictures is giving up on this project. Variety says that this film in now in turnaround and it is expected that Universal Studios will pick up the pieces. Apparently the studio will greenlight production on this film later this week.

Given that the film is swiftly changing hands it doesn’t look like production is going to suffer any major setbacks. The question still remains, who is going to play Jobs? Word on the street points us towards Michael Fassbender, and at one point in time, it was even believed that Leonardo DiCaprio will be tapped for the main role.
