Softcard, for those unfamiliar, was formerly known as Isis where they changed their name for obvious reasons. Putting that aside, Softcard has recently announced that they will be bringing their mobile payment solution to Windows Phone devices. However as the technology will rely on NFC, it means that not all Windows Phone handsets will be compatible.
Using Softcard is pretty straightforward. All the user has to do is choose the card they want to use, scan their mobile device over a compatible terminal and they will be charged straight away. Given that there are over 200,000 locations in the US that supports NFC payments, chances of finding a Softcard compatible store should be relatively easy.
Softcard, just like Google Wallet and Apple Pay, will rely on NFC technology. The service is actually a joint venture between the major carriers AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, although safe to say that it has not really been gaining as much attention compared to Apple Pay or even CurrentC.
