With the sheer amount of content and applications we can install on our mobile devices these days the internal storage never seems to be enough, unless you’ve got the ability to expand using an external microSD card. Unfortunately that’s not possible on iOS devices but SanDisk’s new flash drive is an easy way to get extra storage. The iXpand USB flash drive has a dedicated Lightning connector which enables it to hook up to an iOS device for swift file transfer.
SanDisk iXpand is compatible with any iPhone, iPad and iPod touch model that has a Lightning connector and is powered by iOS 7.0 or higher. It is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models. The SanDisk iXpand Sync app is required for transferring and backing up content when hooked up to an iOS device.
The flash drive, which features a “premium” metal exterior, won’t limit you to iOS devices. It features a standard USB plug which means it is compatible with just about every device on the planet that’s capable of accepting a USB flash drive.
SanDisk is selling the iXpand starting today through its website. The 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models cost $59.99, $79.99 and $119.99 respectively. Best Buy will have the 32GB model in stores starting Sunday.
