If you’re still rocking a Samsung Ativ S from back when it was released nearly two years ago today there is some good news for you. The Windows Phone 8.1 update has been released for the Samsung Ativ S. Roll out of this update has begun and users in many parts of the world confirm that they have begun receiving WP8.1 on their devices.
Samsung has also confirmed that it is rolling out the update for off-contract Ativ S units, particularly in Italy, so it is only a matter of time before the update is sent out to other markets in Europe.
Since Samsung releases such updates in stages it is going to take some time before the Windows Phone 8.1 update for Samsung Ativ S becomes available across all regions, but rest assured, it shouldn’t take more than a couple of days.
Windows Phone 8.1 brings several new features to the device apart from improvements to the battery life and performance. Some big features include Microsoft’s virtual assistant known as Cortana, Action Centre, updated keyboard with swipe and prediction as well as wired screen sharing.
Many of the native applications that shipped with Samsung Ativ S have also been upgraded through this update so when you do install it you’re likely to notice some changes right away.
