Retina iMacs Shipping Times Slip To 2-3 Weeks On Apple’s Website

imac shippingBack in October, Apple took the wraps off their new iMac. It is a beast of a machine with a 27-inch 5K display and some decent specs under the hood, but it also came with a rather hefty price tag of $2,500 as its base price. With such an expensive price tag, you’d think that customers might go for a more affordable alternative, but as it turns out maybe not.

It has been noted that estimated shipping times for the new Retina iMacs have slipped and is now stating that it will be an estimated 2-3 weeks before the computers are shipped out. While we’re sure on any given day the wait is fine, but considering that there are many who might be buying the new iMacs for the holiday season, the 2-3 week wait could be a dent in their plans.

That being said, ComputerWorld has found that the new iMacs are available in Apple’s physical retail stores, so if you’d rather not wait 2-3 weeks, perhaps driving down to an Apple store will be a quick and surefire way to get your hands on one, although it wouldn’t hurt to call and make sure that there is stock before going out.

It is unclear as to why Apple’s online store is suddenly hit with these shortages – perhaps the stock they allocated to themselves have run out, but like we said, Apple’s retail stores are said to have units in stock, followed by other resellers such as Amazon, so those are some alternative channels you could look at.
