There is nothing quite like having a little bit of royal endorsement to get your message across, right? Prince William happens to be the president of United for Wildlife, and he has decided to work alongside the studio that made Angry Birds such a craze across the whole world – Rovio, to host a special tournament in which it will be the platform of choice when it comes to raising the level of awareness concerning the negative impact of poaching, paying specific attention to the endangered pangolin (with Rovio involved, we would have thought it might concentrate more on a winged creature than a ground-based one).
Known as “Roll with the Pangolins,” this challenge will see animated versions of the animals, who have been hunted over the past years for their meat and scales all throughout Asia and Africa. Prince William mentioned, “The humble pangolin, a scaly anteater, is one of the most endangered animals on the planet because of poaching. The pangolin runs the risk of becoming extinct before most people have even heard of them.”
Hopefully his effort will do its bit to help reduce the poaching of pangolins, and it would be sad when the day comes as the only pangolin left available would be the stuffed ones in museums.
