It is more or less a given that anything with the word Pokemon in the video game title is going to sell, with the main question being, just how well will it sell for? For instance, the most recent Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire which were released managed to move more than 3 million units of the game in a matter of three days. This can be considered to be a whopping success according to some game studios, but then again it is the Pokemon franchise that we are talking about here, where it has yet to reach Pokemon X & Y’s levels.
Regardless, to sell more than 3 million copies of the game in a matter of three days is already rather impressive right from the get go, and Nintendo has also confirmed this figure for Game Freak’s latest outing, where it included sales across numerous countries such as the U.S., Japan, Australia and South Korea. Its home market, Japan, made up for close to half the combined total at 1,534,593 units, where there are three global regions which will make up the remainder. Other 3DS titles which managed to shift more than a million units over the weekend include Monster Hunter 4, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and Pokemon X and Y.
