Now some of you guys might have heard that Apple is currently struggling to meet the demands of its customers with regards to the new iPhone 6 Plus. Apparently demand for the device was a lot higher than they had originally anticipated which is why if you’re looking to buy an iPhone 6 Plus, chances are you’d have to wait a few weeks to get one.
Now Foxconn is widely-known to be the company responsible for assembling the device, but a new report from Nikkei has revealed that Apple has since tapped Pegatron for their assistance. Pegatron is another one of Apple’s assembly partners and have been helping produce the iPhone 6.
According to their report, “Local press reports suggest Apple may also tap Pegatron to produce the iPhone 6 Plus since Foxconn has been struggling to cope with demand. Pegatron officials did not comment directly on the media speculation.” However if there is a sign that Pegatron could be helping, it would be in a recent earnings call in which the company’s CEO Jason Cheng confirmed that they had invested $200 million this year to help boost production output.
However as Pegatron does business with other companies besides Apple, the boost in production output could be good business sense and might not necessarily have been done specifically to cater to Apple’s demands. In any case we can only hope that this will help ease supply constraints in the future.
