Nokia Store To Close Down For Good Next Year
From next year onward, it does look as though the Opera Mobile Store will see off the Nokia Store, as it replaces the latter so that you will be able to get your app fix on your respective featurephones and other Symbian-powered devices from Nokia, and of course, the Nokia X, which is powered by a forked version of Android. This particular change will be implemented from the first quarter of next year onward, and those who happen to own selected Nokia handsets will be sent over to the Opera Mobile Store, where they can then apply for an account with Opera if they haven’t done so already.
The entire migration process from the Nokia Store to the Opera Mobile Store ought to be completed sometime before July 2015 rolls around. When that happens, the entire Nokia Store will be closed down for good. At this point in time, the Opera Mobile Store will boast of 300,000 apps and games, where it already has the relevant infrastructure in place to handle millions of downloads each day. With the closure of the Nokia Store, the Opera Mobile Store will then end up as the third largest app store around the world where downloads are concerned, featuring support for more than 7,500 devices.
