Motorola did say that it will start selling the Moto 360 with metal bands later this year and it has followed through on that promise. The company formally made this announcement today. Now its new smartwatch can be purchased with metal bands which are crafted from aircraft-grade stainless steel. The bands have a tri-link design that complements the round face of the Moto 360.
Starting today customers can purchase the Moto 360 with light and dark metal bands through motorola.com for $299. In the near future the company will also offer the smartwatch with slim bands, an option for people with smaller wrists or those who simply want to try a new look. Motorola says the slim bands will be available around the holidays in light metal and champagne gold finish for $299 and $329 respectively.
Those who already own a Moto 360 smartwatch can purchase new accessory bands today. The company is offering interchangeable black and cognac leather bands apart from light and dark metal bands.
New watch faces are available as well and customers can choose from them or even create their own. There’s a new My Design watch face option which brings the ability to customize things like background image to the style of watch hands and tick marks. These options will be available through the Moto Connect app which will be updated in the coming days.
