We’re not sure how many of you guys remember but back in 2010, Motorola announced the Motorola Defy Android smartphone. Now given that the phone is four years old now, it is safe to say that neither Google nor Motorola will be upgrading it to Android 5.0 Lollipop anytime soon. Well that’s the great thing about Android, sometimes you don’t have to wait for the official update.
Thanks to the developers over at the XDA forums, it seems that they have managed to port Android 5.0 over onto the 4-year old handset. In some ways this hardly comes as a surprise given that last year, the developers managed to bring Android 4.4 KitKat onto the Defy, so we guess Android 5.0 did not really seem like that much of a stretch, although in all honesty we have to wonder how much longer can the device keep holding up.
In any case it seems that the port is still in its very early stages, so don’t expect anything too functional just yet. If you’re interested in checking it out and following the progress of the port, be sure to hop on over to the XDA forums for the details. We’re not sure how many of you guys still have your Motorola Defy around, but if you’re looking to breathe some new life into it, perhaps this Android 5.0 port will do the trick.
