If you have been scratching your head, wondering whether there is anything wrong with your computer or device because you could not log into Microsoft Azure, fret not – it is not you. Rather, it is because Microsoft Azure has experienced an outage, where the Xbox Live service is also partially down. In Microsoft Azure’s support page, it did mention that there is an issue which affects the storage layer across multiple regions.
This particular outage seems to affect customers who have virtual machines in all regions, apart from the spanking new data center in Australia. In the Azure status page, it mentioned that “Starting at 19 Nov 2014 00:52 UTC we are experiencing a connectivity issue to Azure Services including Storage, Websites and Visual Studio Online. The next update will be provided in 60 minutes.”
Needless to say, users have already taken to social media to express their outrage at the outage, especially when the status page did not denote that anything had gone awry for at least half an hour after the outage began. Other Microsoft sites affected include the press center, the Windows Store and Xbox Live. In the Xbox Live support page, it points out that “social and gaming are limited”, while other functions such as matchmaking, party and chat remain unavailable. Perhaps now would be a good time to read a book? Apparently, the Azure status page points to everything working fine and dandy now, although many people still claim otherwise. How about you?
