This will follow in the footsteps from other companies such as OnePlus with the OnePlus One and Oppo with the Oppo N1, both of which are companies based in China, so with the Yu brand of smartphones, it will be Cyanogen Inc.’s first foray into the Indian market. Unfortunately Micromax did not unveil what kind of phones we might be able to expect from the Yu brand.
However the company is expected to make the first Yu handset official next month, so we guess we will have to wait until then to find out. Micromax is also claiming that the company will be honoring the warranty of the Yu handsets even if they are rooted, so for those who love to mod their phones but worried about voiding its warranty in the process, you guys can rest assured.
No word if Micromax will be bringing their Yu phones stateside or to other parts of the world, but for now it looks like it will be an India-exclusive, possibly in hopes to compete with the likes of Xiaomi who have started to encroach upon the Indian market.
