LG G3’s Android 5.0 Update Rolling Out This Coming Week

If there is one thing that Android’s detractors and its users have criticized about the platform in the past, it would be that OEMs tend to be a bit slow on the rollout of major Android updates. For example there are still some devices today that have yet to receive their Android 4.4 KitKat update.

This is either because the OEM has decided to stop supporting it, or they could be taking their time, or they could be waiting for carrier approval. All of this has changed over the years as OEMs have begun to rollout updates faster, and it looks like LG will be leading the pack. The South Korean tech company has recently announced that the LG G3 will be the first smartphone in their portfolio to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

This coincides with an earlier report that hinted that the update would be arriving soon as well as leaked screenshots which showed the update running on the handset. According to LG, the rollout will be beginning this week starting in Poland before it makes its way to other parts of the world. Not only will the LG G3 be the first amongst LG’s phones to receive the update, but it also seems that it will be the first non-Nexus Android smartphone to receive it as well, which we have to say is pretty impressive.

LG is also expected to announce an upgrade schedule for the rest of their other devices that have been flagged as eligible for the update. We can’t be sure as to how long it will take before all LG G3 handsets will receive the update, but hopefully it won’t take too long.
