Android Wear, Google’s new platform for wearable devices, was shown off earlier this year and already we have seen some pretty great smartwatches built on this platform. Motorola brought us the beautiful Moto 360, its a smartwatch with a round design that has garnered a lot of praise. LG jumped on this bandwagon as well with the G Watch R, its own round smartwatch, which has the distinction of touting the first circular P-OLED display. The LG G Watch R has finally become available for purchase through the Google Play Store.
LG’s vision with this smartwatch was to make it look like a traditional watch and it has succeeded to quite some extent in that endeavor. Coupled with a matte black stainless steel bezel and a leather strap the G Watch R can easily be mistaken for a conventional wristwatch but its so much more than that.
The G Watch R is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. It is packed with sensors and has IP67 dust and water resistance rating. The smartwatch weighs 65g and packs a 410mAh battery.
Those who are interested in picking one up can head on over to the Google Play Store where the LG G Watch R is listed for $299.
