The trademark filings revealed a handful of names. These names include the LG G Black, LG G Black Slim, LG G Plus, LG G Chocolate, and the LG G Black Sound. The trademark filings cover a range of devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and wearables, so it is unclear if these product names are limited to a particular type of gadget.
The LG G Chocolate is of particular interest. If you recall a few years ago before smartphones were popular, LG had a series of handsets that fell under the “Chocolate” moniker. These ranged from slider feature phones to phones with touchscreen displays when LG was still in the early stages of releasing smartphones of their own.
We can’t be sure if the LG G Chocolate will be the Android successor to the company’s Chocolate lineup, but we can’t help but feel that the choice of name can’t be a coincidence. In any case there is no word on if or when LG plans on announcing these devices. The trademark could simply be used to protect their IP, but either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled nonetheless.
