The K5 sentry robots were specially designed in order to detect anomalous behavior, including having someone walk through a building when it is at night, and it is capable of making reports of such to a remote security center. Knightscope cofounder and vice president of sales and marketing Stacy Stephens, said, “This takes away the monotonous and sometimes dangerous work, and leaves the strategic work to law enforcement or private security, depending on the application.”
The K5 will come equipped with a slew of cameras, sensors, navigation equipment, and electric motors which have been carefully crammed into its body, where there is also a huge rechargeable battery and computer housed within. A quartet of HD cameras located on all sides will help it keep a keen eye out, accompanied by a license-plate recognition camera, four microphones, and a weather sensor.
