The device was limited to South Korea but in a recent announcement by LG, they have revealed that the device will now be rolling out to other parts of the world, starting with Poland this week before it makes its way to other parts of Europe. The device has recently received the Green Product Mark from Europe’s testing, inspection, and certification body which basically tested the product’s hazardous chemicals, toxic components, energy efficiency, and recyclability.
According to LG’s president and CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park, “KizON was developed in response to customers’ opinions that technology should be used to improve the lives of all consumers and it occurred to us that children had the most to gain because they’re the most vulnerable. With KizON meeting the highest standards of child-friendly products, parents and guardians can find comfort in knowing that their children’s first exposure to wearable technology is a safe one.”
The LG KizON will not only allow parents to track their children’s whereabouts, but it will also allow the wearer to communicate with their parents via a One Step Direct Call button. It can also be set to provide alerts at specific times in the day to ensure that your kids are at school/home/tuition like they are supposed to. Battery life is rated at 36 hours and the wearer and parent will be notified when it has dropped to 20%. Pricing and North American availability has yet to be confirmed.
