Earlier this year there were rumors that Swedish developer Avalanche Studios was working on a new title, presumably a new iteration of the Just Cause series. The developer had teased as much itself through a tweet but today the formal announcement has been made by way of a cover reveal. Avalanche Studios has confirmed that Just Cause 3 is going to be released for PS4, Xbox One and the PC.
It has been quite some time since there was a new iteration. The last title in this series, Just Cause 2, was released back in 2010. Today’s announcement was made through a cover reveal on Game Informer, where the editors even got the chance to play the game for a couple of hours.
They report that the parachute and grapple mechanics have been greatly improved in Just Cause 3, and that there’s a brand new wingsuit. The game itself is set in a fictional Mediterranean archipelago.
That’s all that has been revealed about Just Cause 3 at this point in time. I suspect that we’ll get to know more as the release draws near. So far a concrete release date has not been provided but Avalanche Studios has said that Just Cause 3 will be released for next-generation consoles and the PC in 2015.
