In order to cater to the selfie trend many smartphone manufacturers have put in big and powerful front facing cameras in their smartphones. HTC decided to go all in with the Desire EYE so it not only has a 13 megapixel rear facing camera, it also has a 13 megapixel front facing camera to capture some epic selfies. AT&T has confirmed today that it is going to sell this smartphone alongside with a quirky device that HTC announced recently called the RE Camera.
The viewfinder-less 16 megapixel RE camera has a 820mAh battery and it can take photos as well as full HD videos in 1080p for close to two hours. RE Camera, even with its quirky shape, has IP57 rating which makes it water resistant in up to one meter of water for half an hour.
HTC Desire EYE smartphone is actually an AT&T exclusive in the U.S. The carrier is going to launch it on November 7th and will sell it for $149.99 with a new two year service contract. Customers can pay $549.99 upfront for the device or get it on the AT&T Next installment program for $22.92 per month on Next 18 and $27.50 on Next 12.
This smartpone packs a 2.3GHz quadcore Snapdragon 801 processor 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a 5.2-inch 1,920×1,080 pixel resolution display as well as a 2,400mAh battery.
