We reported recently about the possibility of the HBO Go app for Xbox One releasing in the near future. Several indications had appeared online which pointed towards an imminent launch. The wait finally ends today. Microsoft has officially confirmed that HBO Go for Xbox One is available right away, the app can be used to access content from the cable giant right through the company’s next-generation gaming console.
Given that its not a standalone online streaming service, though HBO is working on something like that, in order to access HBO Go Xbox owners will be required to have a paid subscription to the cable giant. Only then will they be able to access content available in HBO’s library.
There won’t be any shortage of content that’s for sure, users will have access to great titles from the likes of The Sopranos to Game of Thrones. This isn’t the first time that HBO Go has landed on Microsoft’s gaming platform, the app has already been available on the Xbox 360, and even the PlayStation 3 for that matter.
The HBO Go app is destined for the PlayStation 4 as well, so fans of Sony’s gaming platform will not miss out. Xbox One owners can go ahead and download the HBO Go app on their consoles right away.
