Records which are there are meant to be broken. After all, it is the overall sense of achievement that one gets from being at the top of the pile that makes life a whole lot more interesting and competitive. Apparently, Rockstar’s epic Grand Theft Auto 5 is now the best-selling game of all time in the U.K., having knocked over Call of Duty: Black Ops, which was the previous record-holder.
According to GfK Chart-Track, Grand Theft Auto 5’s release on the PS4 and Xbox One has seen the title shift a phenomenal amount of copies, so much so that it is now the UK’s best-selling game of all time. This brought an abrupt end to Call of Duty: Black Ops’ reign, which has stood the test of time – at least since 2010. Apart from that, Grand Theft Auto 5 also holds another record under its belt – which is the U.K.’s biggest revenue earner as well as the highest-grossing game in a single week, having picked up a whopping £94m during the first week when it went on sale last month.
The PS4 was also top dog where GTA 5 sales are concerned, as it garnered 58% of copies sold, while 41% made their way to the Xbox One, with the remaining 1% ending up on the Xbox 360.
