Galaxy Nexus Gets New Lease On Life With Unofficial Android 5.0 ROM

The Galaxy Nexus was released back in 2011 which makes it 3 years old and also puts three new Nexus handsets ahead of it – the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and the recently announced Nexus 6. Given that the device is so old, we can only assume that Android 5.0 Lollipop would be out of the question for it, or is it?

Well while Google has not officially stated if the Galaxy Nexus will receive the Android 5.0 update, chances are it won’t. After all Google passed on the device with Android 4.4 KitKat which means that an update to Android 5.0 seems unlikely. However the good news is that if Google won’t see to your needs, the Android community will.

It seems that developers have managed to create a working ROM for the Galaxy Nexus based on the Android 5.0 update. However we should point out that the ROM is definitely nowhere near ready to be used as a daily driver, but the good news is that at least it is being worked on, so for those who are still using the Galaxy Nexus, there is still hope!
