For anyone who’s ever gone overseas on holiday, you may or may not have tried to use your phone to check Facebook, Instagram, emails, and whatnot. Unless you have a local SIM card or WiFi, chances are you could be data roaming which unfortunately equates to extremely high phone bills at the end of the month, even if you think that a couple of megabytes won’t cost too much.
Well one Kickstarter campaign is hoping to change that. Dubbed the ComfortWay, this is a case designed for the iPhone that basically hooks you up with a local carrier wherever you go and lets you use data for relatively affordable prices. For example $2 a day will nab you about 200MB which should be enough to fire off a few emails and check on social networks.
However it works is that the SIM card in the ComfortWay is a virtual embedded SIM that will automatically download the correct SIM configurations from local carriers. It will then choose the best network and act as a hotspot for your iPhone. Its creators are claiming that it will work in 100+ countries and to top things off, it also boasts a 2,400mAh battery.
This sounds like a pretty handy gadget to have around you especially if you’re the type that travels frequently, so if you’d like to learn more or pledge your support, head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.
