Words from the proverbial horse’s mouth itself. However, just like how all dark clouds do come with a silver lining, it is not were his actual words. Still, there is a silver lining, and it is that there is an extremely high interest in licensing the brand, so there is a very real possibility that Nokia might make a “return to the consumer world” according to Suri.
Of course, the return to the consumer world might refer to phones, or perhaps other devices and even services – we would not know. What we do know at the moment is this – it does not look as though they are going to roll out Android-powered handsets anytime now. Apart from that, we also discovered that Nokia does not intend their HERE brand of navigation software to compete with Google Maps directly, but will look to third-party licensees such as Amazon, Microsoft or Yahoo to continue. Good luck in trying to change the perception of people concerning HERE not being a direct rival of Google Maps!
