Whenever a new race is introduced to the game, Blizzard has tried to make it look better than the current models in terms of its texture, but with Warlords of Draenor, Blizzard introduced some major updates in a bid to make all of their class models look more modern. So far all the classes have been given the updated treatment, save for the Blood Elves.
Well the good news is that Blizzard has not forgotten the Blood Elves and in a recent blog post, revealed the new models that they are hoping to introduce into the game in the near future. As expected these changes are in line with what Blizzard has done with the previous models which is to make the models look less “blocky” by smoothing out some areas and adding some extra details here and there.
According to senior artist Dusty Nolting, “For the female specifically, something we did often was move things around in small but deliberate increments, to make sure everything was just right. It’s the delicate details like her nose shape or fingertips that represent the most challenging parts of upgrading the female.”
As for the male Blood Elf model, “The male Blood Elf already has a lot of character with his easily recognizable pose and stylish hair. Our update just gives us a chance to define and focus on that. His anatomy, facial features, and hair will all get an update while still maintaining his iconic look, bringing him to the level of the other new character models.”
As for when we can expect to see these introduced in-game, Blizzard has no ETA to provide at the moment, but they seem to be pretty pleased with their progress so far so hopefully gamers won’t have to wait too long to see these changes. In the meantime anyone pleased with what they’re seeing?
