While the Moto X might be Motorola’s flagship phone at the moment, they also have a budget device in the form of the Moto G which first launched in 2013. The handset, despite having low-end hardware, proved to be a pretty big hit especially amongst customers who weren’t after anything particularly fancy.
Motorola later gave the phone a slight upgrade by giving it 4G LTE capabilities, so could the same be happening for the 2014 version of the Moto G handset? Well according to recent benchmark sightings (via Ausdroid), it certainly looks like Motorola could be working on a 4G LTE version of the 2014 Moto G handset.
The benchmarks also reveal that Motorola could be planning a slight hardware upgrade as well. According to the benchmarks, we could be looking at an upgrade to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC versus the Snapdragon 400 on the current model. The benchmarks also shows 1GB of RAM and at the time it was recorded, it was running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, although we’re not sure if it will be upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop at a later date.
No word on if or when Motorola will make the device official, but considering that the 4G version of the 2013 Moto G took a while to arrive, hopefully we won’t have to wait too long the second time around. In the meantime anyone else looking forward to a 4G version of the 2014 Moto G?
