However there is a downside to signing with the carrier – bloatware. According to Gizmodo who have confirmed with AT&T, it seems that if you were to buy your Nexus 6 from the carrier, prepare to have your phone come with AT&T’s apps preinstalled. Given that the joy of having stock Android means not being bogged down with unnecessary apps you’ll most probably never use, this revelation might not sit well with potential or current customers who might have already pre-ordered their device.
However users will be pleased to learn that they can delete the apps as easily as you would with normal apps, so you’ll just need to take an extra minute or two to remove the apps once you turn on the device. Of course we’re sure many would have preferred their device to arrive in their hands unadulterated, but we guess that’s probably one of the deals Google/Motorola had struck up with AT&T.
That being said, Sprint has also confirmed with Gizmodo that their version of the Nexus 6 will run the stock Android with no additional apps loaded, so if you’re not happy with AT&T’s practice, we guess you have alternative carriers to choose from, or you could always pay full price and get it from Google directly.
