Samsung has been doing pretty well when it comes to the world of smartphones, having released various models to cater to different market segments. Having said that, this does not mean that they do not face any competition – Apple is one of their fiercest competitors in fact. Apple has now overtaken Samsung as the top mobile brand over in the world’s most populous country, which is China – at least according to a research report.
This bit of information hails from the China Brand Research Center’s 2014 China Brand Power Index ranking report, where Samsung has seen its top spot overtaken by Apple. This should be a particularly painful moment for Samsung, as they had held top spot since 2012. According to the China Brand Research Center, they came about this particular ranking by polling 13,500 Chinese across 30 cities, with ages from 15 to 60, from August 2013 to January 2014, concerning brand awareness and loyalty.
A Samsung spokesperson does not want to comment on this particular matter. It would be interesting to see just how Samsung will fare in the year to come, especially with the roll out of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. If you were in Samsung’s position, just what would you do in order to augment your current position?
