A report from last month suggested that Apple could be thinking about removing Fitbit’s products from their stores. Well the bad news is that if you were hoping to pick up a Fitbit device for yourself from Apple’s stores, you’ll need to look elsewhere because according to reports, Apple has indeed followed through with their plan.
As of today, it seems that Fitibt products will no longer be able to be bought via Apple’s online stores, and Apple has also reportedly begun the process of removing it from their physical retail stores as well. It is unclear as to why Apple has decided to remove Fitbit’s products. One might think that they don’t want competing health products because of the Apple Watch, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Apple is still listing other health wearables such as products from Jawbone and Nike, so perhaps it could be due to the contract between Apple and Fitbit running out and with either party not interested in renewing it, but that’s just speculation for now. A report from last month also said that Apple could be removing Bose’s audio products which indeed happened.
It was suggested that part of the reason is because of the patent dispute, which has since been settled, between Bose and Beats, although Bose’s snub of Beats in an exclusive deal with the NFL might have something to do with it too. Either way if you’re looking for Fitbit products, you’ll have to look for alternative channels.
