Now that Google has announced the roll out of Android 5.0 Lollipop, Android device owners around the world are curious about when the update will be released for their devices. There are a variety of factors which influence this if you don’t own a Nexus or Google Play Edition device. In some regions the delay might be caused by carriers apart from the time spent by the OEM in validating said update. If you have one of Sony’s new smartphones then rest assured as the company has already started a beta test of Android 5.0 for Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact.
Sony has teamed up with the 3 network in Sweden to provide a limited number of customers the opportunity to become some of the very first Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact owners in the world who get to try out Lollipop on their devices. Sony has already confirmed its plans of updating all supported Xperia devices to Lollipop by early next year.
Only a select few will be given access in this beta test. They will be able to provide Sony with feedback through a dedicated application so that the company can iron out any kinks that arise.
Those who are based in Sweden and use the 3 network can sign up here to become a part of this beta test, and then wait to receive the invitation from Sony.
