Amazon might be one of the more famous tech companies which hail from the US, but this does not mean that all they do will be infallible in nature. While there are hits, surely there are misses along the way, and the Amazon Fire Phone happens to be one of them. In fact, Amazon has just dropped the price of its Fire Phone to just $199 – in an unlocked form factor, which means you can choose to use it with other compatible networks. The big question is, with this $250 discount taken into consideration, would the Amazon Fire Phone still be worth picking up?
While Amazon did manage to introduce a slew of unique things into its maiden smartphone outing, such as a 3D interface as well as the Firefly feature, the smartphone really failed to shine in most aspects, and it certainly espouses the proverb, “Jack of all trades, master of none.” Of course, the original $650 price tag that came along with the Amazon Fire Phone when it was first launched did play its part in the low adoption rate, but the price tag is not all that there was to it, since the mediocre hardware also had a role in this grossly underperforming handset.
