The thing about smartphones with thin side bezels is that it allows OEMs to create phones with large displays, but at the same time it doesn’t feel as big in your hands thanks to the trimming of said bezels. Over the years we’ve seen companies try to reduce the bezels as much as possible, and it looks like Xiaomi is trying their very best too.
According to recently leaked photos, it seems that the alleged Xiaomi Mi5 (successor to this year’s Mi4) has made its way online, and from what we can tell, it looks like Xiaomi has managed to do away with the bezels almost entirely! Of course we expect that there is still a very tiny hint of a bezel left, but to the naked eye it really looks like it is all gone.
Apart from that, the phone’s design kind of reminds us of the HTC One M8, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing as the HTC One M8 is a very nicely-designed handset. Unfortunately not much else is known about the Xiaomi Mi5 at the moment. Rumors are suggesting that we could be looking at a QHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, and 3GB of RAM.
Apart from that the rest of the phone’s specs and features remains a mystery. No word on when the handset will be launched but given that we’re almost towards the end of the year, there is a good chance we could be looking at a 2015 announcement, but until then take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Like what you see so far?
