128GB iPhone 6 Plus Recall Reports Are False

According to an earlier report, it was revealed that users of the 128GB iPhone 6 Plus were reporting that their phones were crashing and randomly rebooting. A newer report from South Korean media outlets had suggested that the problem could be a hardware issue with the memory controller and that Apple could even issue a recall.

Well before you start panicking, it seems that perhaps the reports might have been a little exaggerated. According to 9to5Mac, they claim to have heard from a source close to the situation that reports of Apple recalling the 128GB iPhone 6 Plus are false. In fact this might not even be an issue with the iPhone 6 Plus as it was discovered that crashing and rebooting was an issue that affected a small amount of users as far back as iOS 6.

To be honest if that were true, why Apple has not addressed that issue for so long is a mystery, but either way if you’re the owner of a 128GB iPhone 6 Plus, you can rest assured that this seems to be more of a software issue than a hardware one. It also seems to affect users who have an abnormally large amount of apps installed on their device, such as those with 500-1,000 apps.

So if you do have a few hundred apps installed, perhaps it’s time to start trimming that down to apps that you actually use. 9to5Mac’s source tells them that Apple is aware of the rare bug but no word on when a fix will be issued. In the meantime it seems that reports of a possible recall are false.
