After letting out a whoop of joy that would certainly bring Cantina down, it is said that special downloadable versions of X-Wing as well as TIE Fighter will eventually roll out on Good Old Games at $10 a pop. At that price point, you will be on the receiving end of special editions of the games, which will feature improved resolutions (although do not expect Full HD graphics) as well as improved sound, not to mention the entirety of the games’ expansions, all the while running on a modern day computer without the need for hacks or special software installed.
The Special Edition will include Star Wars: TIE Fighter and Star Wars: TIE Fighter – Defender of the Empire, which are available in both the 1994 and 1998 versions, alongside Star Wars: X-Wing Collector’s CD-ROM and both Tour of Duty expansions: Imperial Pursuit and B-Wing. Hard to believe that it has taken this long, but perhaps it has something to do with the upcoming Star Wars movie…
