A few days ago, it was announced that Black Eye Peas’ frontman Will.i.am will be launching a smartwatch of his own, and sure enough he has. He has recently taken the wraps off his wearable device which he is calling Puls which will also fall under the artist’s i.am+ brand. This isn’t the first time Will.i.am mentioned wearables as it was first talked about earlier this year, but it proved to be a bit too ambitious and needed more time.
We guess better late than never, right? That being said, the smartwatch appears to feature more of a band-like design as opposed to a traditional-looking watch. It will feature 3G capabilities and will support emails, social networking, navigation, and more, with a display that is said to be almost 2-inches large.
As for its operating system of choice, the Puls will be powered by a forked version of Android, as opposed to Android Wear, and will also feature its own voice assistant called AneedA that is powered with Nuance’s technology. Under the hood it will sport a Snapdragon processor with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and will have a battery that according to him, should be good for an entire day. We’ll need to test this for ourselves, but a day’s use seems to be more or less standard fare for most smartwatch these days.
Pricing of the Puls has yet to be determined, but the watch will be available through AT&T and O2 in the UK before the holiday season.
