Over the past few weeks there have been many rumors about a new Droid smartphone that will soon be added to Verizon’s lineup. The carrier hasn’t said anything about this device as yet and that may be because its due to announce the device on October 28th. The official landing page for the Droid Turbo is up and running now and it features a countdown timer which ends at 12PM EST on October 28th.
As previously mentioned we have heard a lot about this device in the not so distant past. Even Verizon slipped up recently when a press render of the Droid Turbo was tweeted through an official account, with the tweet then quickly being pulled as the news spread online.
Built by Motorola the Droid Turbo is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 805 processor. A 5.2-inch Quad HD display, 21 megapixel rear camera, 3,900mAh battery and support for Qi wireless charging are all expected to be onboard.
Given that it has the “Turbo” moniker rumors suggest that rapid charging is going to be one of the prime features of this smartphone, coupled with a big battery providing ample juice.
Pricing and availability information is not public at this point in time so we’ll have to wait until October 28th to hear the official details from Verizon itself.
