However it should be noted that unlocking the bootloader could cause some issues for the phone. It has been noted and pointed out by Sony and on the XDA Developer forums that unlocking the bootloader will wipe your DRM keys. This is something that has been done in the past to help control how users view their media purchases, like movies, music, and so on.
In the case of the Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact, the DRM keys are also used to protect Sony’s proprietary imaging software, so by unlocking the bootloader, you would be wiping those keys as well, thus impacting the quality of the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact’s camera, as you can see in the image comparison above.
This isn’t done by mistake as Sony has clearly stated on its website that “the removal of DRM security keys may affect advanced camera functionality. For example, noise reduction algorithms might be removed, and performance when taking photos in low-light conditions might be affected.” In any case this is just something to take note of if you do decide to mess about with the phone.
