There has always been debate between Xbox and PlayStation gamers, with either side claiming that their platform is superior to the other. Well so far in the case of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, it seems that the latter does have a slight advantage over the latter. This is evidenced in video games where games made for the PS4 tend to have higher resolutions compared to the Xbox One.
Now there seems to be some controversy regarding the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Unity where Ubisoft Montreal producer, Vincent Pontbriand, told the folks at Video Gamer that they would be maintaining a resolution of 900p and a framerate of 30fps for both the Xbox One and PS4 version of the game.
Pontbriand’s quote of “We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff” has since drawn the ire of gamers who felt that Ubisoft was intentionally lowering the specs. Ubisoft has since released a statement where they denied doing anything like that. “To set the record straight, we did not lower the specs for Assassin’s Creed Unity to account for any one system over the other.”
They add, “Over the past 4 years, we have created Assassin’s Creed Unity to attain the tremendous level of quality we have now achieved on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. It’s a process of building up toward our goals, not scaling down, and we’re proud to say that we have reached those goals on all SKUs.”
So gamers, what do you guys think? Is Ubisoft really lowering the specs as suggested, or do you believe their statement? After all we’ve seen other games from Ubisoft, like Watch Dogs, hit resolutions of 900p on the PS4 while having a resolution of 729p on the Xbox One, so for Ubisoft to bump Assassin’s Creed Unity for the Xbox One to 900p does seem fair, but what say you?
