When Apple Pay was unveiled last month the company said that it already had major national banks onboard. At its iPad event last week Apple revealed that since then more than 500 banks, both big and small, had opened up to support its new payments service with more coming soon. Visa and MasterCard have issued lists of banks which will add support for Apple Pay in the near future, so if your bank is on the list, you will be able to use a debit or credit card issued by it in Apple Pay.

Visa’s list consists of dozens of banks which will be opening up to Apple Pay very soon. It says that these banks will add support for the service “in the coming weeks.” The list itself is quite lengthy and posted in full over at Visa’s website, take a look at it and see if yours has made the list.

A list that contains a dozen or so banks has been released by MasterCard as well. These banks will add support for Apple Pay “in the coming months.”

As previously mentioned, when banks open up to the service, debit or credit cards issued by them will become usable. Currently this service is only available to folks in the U.S., Apple has plans to go international with this service, but it was recently discovered that through a simple tweak you can already use Apple Pay overseas.
